Gratitude is truly magical, even in moments of great despair, there will always be something to be grateful for.

What is gratitude?
Gratitude can be defined in many ways! One being, the feeling and expressing of thankfulness to and for others, situations/circumstances, and even the tangible things we acquire in life. Spiritually I would have to say gratitude is that and so much more, to me gratitude is deep. Deep because it takes a divine awareness to seek and acknowledge the love, purity, and thoughtfulness of another and more importantly that of a higher all-knowing power. Gratitude is necessary, so necessary that I express it daily and often more than once since I've began my healing journey. Consciously practicing gratitude and integrating it as a part of your being is not just in the happy moments when something is done for us, or gifted to us, though those times are equally important, its heavy in the moments when we have been stripped of a lot of what we cherish if not all and when life gifts us challenges. Sometimes we get so down that we forget that there is still much to be grateful for, the spirit of gratitude is especially crucial in those events. To inner stand that in the times of life when things aren't going as planned, seemingly falling apart, that there is a reason for every season, and we experience new lows to experience newer and greater highs in itself is a reason to be grateful.
Living in a state of gratitude
There are so many great benefits to living life in a constant state of gratitude from positive mental health to positive physical health!
Gratitude counteracts negative emotions that interfere with our mental health such as fear, loneliness, blame, and more. The spirit of gratitude takes up an enormous amount of space with its high vibrational energy, blocking out all those negative emotions that come to rob us of our good vibes and vitality. This positive influence emotionally flows to the physical body and health there of decreasing built up energy that often is the cause of many aches, pains, and tensions.
Gratitude expands positive emotions such as joy, satisfaction, tranquility, fulfilment, and so much more! With these positive energies in motion, you're likely to experience the law of attraction in the ways you desire, bringing forth more of what you express gratitude for. The immense power of gratitude gifts those who practice this attitude the ability to control their overall emotions better and an increasing ability to regulate stressors. The feelings and spirit of gratefulness have been proved to increase the amount of grey matter in the brains right inferior temporal gyrus; responsible for cognitive processes which refers to perception, knowledge/comprehension, awareness, language production, judgement/observation, memory, decision making, and problem solving; pretty much connecting the discovery of new knowledge by what you already obtain.
Gratitude exercises
Grateful morning: Start your morning off with meditating or sitting on what you're grateful for, this can be anything during any time whether it be relationships, materials, health, the past or present. You can even speak life and gratitude over the day to come. An example of this would be, "I give thanks and welcome the great promises of today".
Gratitude journaling: This is one of my favorites, try having a journal specifically for gratitude. As often as you want, write down what you are grateful for. This is great to be able to write in at the times you experience something you're grateful for and even times of life challenges, you can look back through your journal and experience all you have had gratitude for.
Gratitude walks: Nature is a huge thing to be grateful for, take a walk and look around at all that The Creator gifted us and give thanks!
Goodnight gratitude: While you're preparing for rest at night think about something you experienced throughout the day that you are grateful for.
The importance of self-gratitude
During the practice of gratitude on this journey to healing, it is important to show gratification for the most permanent person in your life which is you! Just think about it, how much you've sacrificed for yourself, how hard you've worked when you probably wanted to just give up, how much you've changed for the better.
